Layers and finished pieces

Ply describes the layers in a finished sheet. Sheet count describes the number of finished pieces separated by perforations or dispensed from a box. The B031 listing gives two plies and420 sheets per roll. Those fields answer different questions and must not be multiplied into840 usable sheets.

The20,160-sheet total

For the selected48-roll case, the correct count is48×420=20,160. A competing one-ply or three-ply product still needs its own finished-sheet count. Counting constituent layers as extra sheets changes the denominator without giving the buyer extra independently dispensed pieces.

Record three separate fields

A useful comparison record therefore has separate columns for rolls, sheets per roll and plies. Leave an unavailable field blank. If a shop advertises a “double” or “mega” equivalence without a clear reference roll, retain the marketing wording but calculate from the actual supplied count only.

Counts do not measure strength

More plies do not establish a measured strength, softness, skin outcome or lifetime in this guide. Compare count-based cost within the same intended category, then check dimensions and materials separately. We have not tested any selected paper and do not convert layers into a performance ranking.
